OUR MISSION

KLAMATH AND LAKE COUNTIES COUNCIL ON AGING (KLCCOA)

KLCCOA SEEKS TO MEET IMMEDIATE NEEDS FOR SENIORS WHILE ENCOURAGING A MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF SELF-HELP AND INDEPENDENCE. OUR MISSION IS TO PROMOTE DIGNITY, WELL-BEING, SECURITY AND INDEPENDENCE FOR SENIORS IN KLAMATH AND LAKE COUNTIES.

 

We are a private non-profit organization and the designated Area Agency for Aging (AAA) under the Older American Act of 1965, responsible for providing services to meet the needs of senior citizen's in Klamath and Lake Counties. We serve motivated and creative people willing to listen and work together to solve problems that improve the lives of seniors, through a supportive and progressive environment.  We operate in a caring, compassionate and nurturing way for seniors.

Join Our Advisory Council

Advisory Council members are volunteer citizens who represent older adults and individuals with disabilities within our community.

The KLCCOA Advisory Council (KAC) is a federally mandated council which includes individuals and representatives of community organizations. The KAC helps to enhance the leadership role of the Area Agency on Aging in developing community based systems of services.  The KAC ensures community input and participation in the development of priorities and the delivery of services in our service area. The KAC also reviews and comments on policies, programs, and actions that affect older persons.

  • The Advisory Council comprises a maximum of 12 members. Fifty percent of whom are age 60 or older, persons with leadership experience, and the general public. Including minority individuals who are participants or who are eligible to participate in the Area Agency on Aging programs, also individuals with disabilities.

  • Representatives of older persons

  • Representatives of support service provider organizations

  • 3 Lake County representatives

  • The KAC meets on the third Thursday every other month at 1:30 p.m. at the Klamath Falls office located at 404 Main Street, Suite 6.

  • All meetings are open to the public.
